The parish and convent in Bom Jesus are developing into a center of sacred music. The sisters are studying chant and polyphony with an excellent music director, and hope to put a real pipe organ in their chapel in the coming years. The sisters have recently received a new electronic keyboard which will work with a digital organ emulator for the time being.
Meanwhile, they are putting together an ensemble of strings, with a goal of 10 violins, 3 violas and 2 cellos. A donation of $3000 USD would cover the purchase of all of these as new 'student quality' instruments.
We are particularly interested in supporting the convent music program because of the enormous trickle-down effect it will have in the entire diocese, especially since the sisters are involved in catechism and schooling for thousands of children. A new generation that understands and can play and sing sacred music is good for all of us.
Help make sacred music flourish with your contributions! Friends of Campos would like to contribute $3000 USD for the string instruments. Donations of any size will help!
