The parish and convent in Bom Jesus are developing into a center of sacred music. The sisters are studying chant and polyphony with an excellent music director, and hope to put a real pipe organ in their chapel in the coming years. The sisters have recently received a new electronic keyboard which will work with a digital organ emulator for the time being.
Meanwhile, they are putting together an ensemble of strings, with a goal of 10 violins, 3 violas and 2 cellos. A donation of $3000 USD would cover the purchase of all of these as new 'student quality' instruments. We are particularly interested in supporting the convent music program because of the enormous trickle-down effect it will have in the entire diocese, especially since the sisters are involved in catechism and schooling for thousands of children. A new generation that understands and can play and sing sacred music is good for all of us. |
Help make sacred music flourish with your contributions! Friends of Campos would like to contribute $3000 USD for the string instruments. Donations of any size will help!
