One key feature of the new wing of the seminary is the library. Until now, books were stored in various store-rooms and corridors around the seminary. Now that there is a proper library the books are being brought down, repaired and catalogued. The air-conditioned reading room is already up and running, to the relief of the seminarians who enjoy some respite from the tropical heat when they can get it.
The collection is mostly made up of the libraries of clergy who donated their books to the seminary since its founding. There are many interesting and essential works. But the library lacks newer books entirely. Father Everaldo is leading the library project, and will develop a list of needed titles.
Friends of Campos would like to support the purchase of new books by making regular small contributions. $200-500 will purchase a good many books published in Brazil (where prices range from $5-20 US dollars per book); books not available in Brazil will be purchased from abroad, where prices are considerably higher. An ongoing flow of small donations would be ideal to help the library grow.
We welcome your contributions to building a worthy library for the formation of these seminarians.
